I want to bust a myth! That myth is – “weight gain is an inevitable fact of life for women in their mid-years!”

How do I know that this is not a fact? Because I’m a Registered Dietitian and weight loss expert. I work with women who have busted through the myth starting during peri-menopause right through menopause and beyond!

The truth is – “weight gain is not an inevitable fact of life for women in their mid-years!

These changes ‘sneak’ up on us …

I call this “weight creep.” Those innocuous 1-3 pounds accumulated each year beginning in our late 30’s. At the time we don’t think much of it. You may start each ‘New Year’ vowing to lose those few pounds but somehow they decide to stick around.

By the time you reach your 40’s-50’s it appears that those innocently accumulated “few pounds” decides to park right in your mid-section. Do I detect a theme here, mid-section, mid-age?

Can you relate to any of these thoughts? Are you:

  • Tired of eating out of microwavable food trays for lunch and end up hungry 20 minutes later!
  • Berating yourself for not being “strong enough” to walk past the office candy dish …
  • Embarrassed to look inside your closet and find one side for your “fat clothes” and the other your “skinny stuff you strut” clothes?

Second, be honest, do you really, really, really want to lose weight? If you don’t that’s okay. But realize that there will be a time when it will be harder to move that fat and move your body. Time is an enemy at this age.
